Autumn in Seoul – Namsan Tower and a bit of Myeongdong

Growing up in a tropical country and working in a country that is mostly summer even in winter, we have limited seasons to experience i.e. dry season, wet season and drier season. LOL. So experiencing fall for the first time was like an oasis to our deserts and a warm food to our hunger. 😛

I’m particularly looking forward to visiting Mt. Namsan when we were in Seoul. Why? Because autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile. 🙂 Mt. Namsan means nature, beautiful walking trails and trees, trees that have auburn, scarlet and copper leaves, warm colors that brings feast to the eyes and peace to the heart. Please be warned as what you will see in this post are trees, leaves, and mostly trees.

Mt. Namsan is a symbolic mountain located at the center of Seoul. Although not as high as other surrounding mountains, Mt. Namsan is a very popular nonetheless as a resting site. At the top, there are various facilities such as Palgakjeong (octagonal hall), Seoul Tower, Maritime Aquarium, fountains, and Namsan Library. You may take a cable car to the top or walk up the stairway path. (Source: KTO)

Directions: Go out exit #2 or 3 at Myeong-dong Station on Seoul Subway Line 4. Walk towards Lila Elementary School for approximately 10 minutes, then you will see Seoul Tower and take a Cable Car.

 Individual: Adults 6,000 won
Cable Car Round Trip
 Individual: Adults 8,000 won

Locks of love

This viewing deck is very popular with lovers. Thousands of padlocks are attached to the fence by the romantic Seoulites and even tourists symbolizing their undying affection.

Look at these locks gleaming in the sunlight, a small reminder of romantic korean hearts.

Since the sister more of a please-take-my-picture than a let-me-take-your-picture person, i’ve appointed myself as the official photographer of this trip.

Quick Tip: If you prefer walking than taking the cable car, you can start your trek from Namsangol Hanok Village, just like the locals do.
